Casserole Mess No-More

Chicken Quesadilla Casserole

In the winter, it is easy to see the allure of a very homey style casserole dish. Casserole dishes are comfort food at its finest, dripping with every food group: carbs, meat and cheese and veggies. Its easy to see how these are winners, until you start to scrub the pots, pans or other dishes. Cheese is sticky, it is stringy. While it tastes ever so yummy, it does a number on my scrubby pad and won’t come off in the dishwasher.

This is what I found, wash the dishes in COLD water. Yes, COLD water. This lets the fats in the cheese harden and makes it easier to scrub off. No more gloopy, stringy mess stuck to your scrubby pad.

  1. I love casseroles in the winter! Actually, I’m one of those odd people who likes to fix a casserole any time of the year. What’s not to love about a one-dish meal?

Love this advice about the cheesy mess! I never thought about trying cold water, but I’m going to do it next time!

    • Thanks! I love casseroles too. One pot meals where the kiddos will actually eat their veggies? A total win! My older two are pretty good about eating their veggies, but the baby is completely different. At 2yrs old, he just got started with fruit. It’s going to be a long road, but we will get there, eventually.

    • Welcome. Actually you were reading my mind. Also started another series “Whats for Dinner Wednesdays” Chicken Quesadilla Casserole recipe just published! Thanks for reading.
