After Holiday Shopping

As I was cruising google news this morning, this headline jumped out at me:

Retailers hope for strong post-holiday sales

Title and picture from a USAToday article. On my FaceBook feed, many people, possibly to get a conversation started were asking if people were headed out to shopping during the ‘After Christmas Sales’.

If I didn’t have to work today, I would be at home, with my kids. Playing a game, out for a walk or writing our Thank You notes. I just spent weeks running around crazy trying to find a good deal on the Christmas gifts, I don’t need another shopping excursion.

I don’t mind shopping, but I rarely look at it as entertainment. I suspect this is a by-product of becoming a mom.

  • Money is tighter because now I have to plan for others’ needs, not just my wants.
  • When I do buy something, 90% of the time it is for someone else
  • Kids grow so quick and you have to keep replacing shoes, pants, so I don’t want to buy super nice things unless its important – like having good puddle stomping boots!
  • I value face time with my kids more than I value another pair of shoes in my closet. (Its close, but I still value the face time more… usually)

Go shopping if you must, but make sure to hug those you love tight too. That’s what I’m going to do when I get done buying diapers on the way home from work.

Warehouse Toy Sales in Sumner

This sounds so great and perfect timing for Christmas shopping. There is no way I would spend any significant time at a mall, or other major toy retailer. I do most my Christmas shopping online. It helps keeps me from standing in line at the Post Office for a large amount of time too.

Sounds Fun Mom has a great warehouse sale by Mega Brands listed on her website. It looks really cool. I haven’t been, but with three little boys in the house, I need to check this out! Historically, I hear they have a Toys For Tots drive during the sale. She also has some great tips about shopping the sale.  **Picture from SoundsFunMom.com website.

Semi Annual Mega Multiples Sale

ImageThis is a WONDERFUL sale for kiddos birth through size 5. While I mourn that my olders are now out of size for this great event, it is hosted by the Tacoma Parents of Multiples group. This group is a great resource for mother and fathers of multiples (twins, triplets, quads and more!) I have been a member of the group and think it is a great place to find information and camaraderie celebrating all that is the multiple lifestyle. Support the great ladies and gents, and score some pretty cool baby/kid stuff for the family at a steep discount.  Toys, clothes, strollers, cribs, and more! And remember, this is the last Mega Multiples sale before Christmas!! (Im planning on looking for some blanket sleepers for my ever growing younger!)  **HINT: There is a crowd, so come early and be prepared to line up about 15min early!
